Business Development Partners
Iowa Economic Development Authority
The Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) facilitates economic development growth statewide. We work with staff at IEDA to assist Urbandale companies to secure state financial incentives. Additionally, we refer Urbandale companies to resources available at IEDA such as expertise in the International Trade Office, financial assistance for trade shows, and support for headquarter visits.
Urbandale Chamber of Commerce
We work with the Chamber to promote the local business community. We share a goal to retain, expand, and build the Urbandale business network. We partner on various events and initiatives to market Urbandale and build local resources to support existing and prospective businesses.
Greater Des Moines Partnership
The Greater Des Moines Partnership markets the Des Moines region nationally and globally as a great place to build a business, career and life. We work with the Partnership to locate new industry in Urbandale. Additionally, we collaborate with the Partnership to assist Urbandale companies with their plans for expansion and efforts to secure State incentives from the Iowa Economic Development Authority.
Iowa Small Business Development Center
The City of Urbandale and Chamber of Commerce have partnered with the Iowa Small Business Development Center to assist local business owners and entrepreneurs. SBDC staff are in Urbandale the second Wednesday of every month to meet one on one and offer processional advice. Services offered by the SBDC include assistance with business plans, marketing, cash flow, plans for expansion, succession planning and more.
Cultivation Corridor
The Cultivation Corridor works to promote Central Iowa as a global leader in agbioscience, biorenewables, biotech and advanced manufacturing. Numerous Urbandale companies contribute to the success of the Cultivation Corridor and continue to expand familiarity with and support for the Corridor worldwide.
Utility Partners
MidAmerican Energy
MidAmerican Energy provides electricity and natural gas to Urbandale residents and businesses. We partner with MidAmerican Energy to ensure existing businesses and sites for future development have access to utility services. Additionally, MidAmerican Energy provides support for Urbandale economic development initiatives through their Local Partners program.
Urbandale Water Utility
With two elevated water storage tanks, approximately two hundred miles of water main, and three booster pumping stations that supply water to two pressure zones, the Urbandale Water Utility is able to provide water services to the residents and businesses of Urbandale.
Urbandale Sanitary Sewer District
The Urbandale Sanitary Sewer District provides for the disposal of all sanitary sewage within the district. They also construct, provide and maintain the necessary facilities to provide proper flow of collected sewage, which includes laterals, truck lines and interceptors.
Telecommunications Providers
Urbandale is served by a variety of telecommunication providers. The providers have built an extensive fiber network in Urbandale's economic development area, offering speeds greater than 1 GB to growing businesses.

Education Partners
Des Moines Area Community College
Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) administers several State-funded programs that assist Iowa companies with workforce training needs. We work closely with the DMACC Business Resources team to ensure Urbandale companies can access these programs and the other resources that the College has for supporting business and workforce development in its service area.
Iowa State University
Iowa State University is a major research institution about 30 minutes away from Urbandale. Their academic programs complement Urbandale's targeted industries with majors that focus on technology, engineering, and other STEM careers. We often partner Urbandale businesses with the university's Center for Industrial Research and Service (CIRAS) program to help businesses develop and grow.
