The Solid Waste Division helps to maintain a clean and healthy Urbandale environment by collecting and disposing of residential garbage, recycling, and yard waste. Household garbage is collected weekly by the City of Urbandale. Yard debris is collected weekly by the City of Urbandale through the MWA Compost It! program. Recyclables are collected every-other week by Waste Management through the MWA Curb It! recycling program.
Trash, Curb It! and Compost It! is normally collected Monday through Thursday. Residents should place their containers and Compost It! bags at the curb by 6:30 a.m. on the morning of their collection day. View the collection schedule here.
If a holiday falls on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday, there is no collection on the holiday, collection is delayed one day for the remainder of the week. Holidays for 2022 without trash or recycling collection are:
Collection normally scheduled for these days will occur on the following weekday, collection will be delayed for all households by one day for the remainder of the week.
