Biography

Matt moved to the Des Moines metro to attend law school at Drake University Law School, graduating in 2015. Matt works as Legal Counsel for the Iowa Association of REALTORS. Matt joined the Iowa Army National Guard after graduating from law school. He holds the rank of Captain and serves his state as a Judge Advocate (JAG Officer). Matt deployed to Kuwait and Iraq in support of Operation Inherent Resolve in 2021. 

Matt has served on the following committees:

• Metro Waste Authority – Member (2020-Present)
• BRAVO Greater Des Moines – Past Member (2020-2022) 
• Urbandale 4th of July Celebration – Past President (2017-Present)
• Urbandale Civil Rights Commission – Past Member (2017-2019)

Matt is married to Dr. Alaina Blake, an optometrist with a practice in Waukee. They have a young son named Saxon.
