The Urbandale Police Department is fortunate to have a dedicated group of men and women who volunteer their time as police reserve officers. Reserve officers wear the same uniform, complete the same training, and perform many of the same tasks as our full time officers. The department currently has 10 state certified reserve officers.
The Reserve Unit assists the department in a variety of ways. In 2018, reserve officers volunteered an amazing 2810 hours. The vast majority of these hours are spent assigned to patrol and assisting with community events. Reserve officers were used during, the Mayor’s Bike Ride, 4th of July activities, National Night Out, police station tours, UHS homecoming parade, Halloween at Living History Farms, Trunk or Treat, Shop with a Cop in Dallas County and Urbandale.
