Run for the Badge 5K with Mayor Andeweg

Join us for our virtual 5K run and/or walk to support the National Law Enforcement Memorial and Museum.

Our Mayor, Bob Andeweg, will be running the event virtually and you can too! We've set up a route for you to follow when it's convenient for you (see below). You can also run on your own at the gym, in your house, or use Urbandale's beautiful trails on your own time. Pre-register before Monday, September 21, 2020 and get a free t-shirt!

1.) Register for the event:

This event is free and open to everyone. Participants that register before Monday, September 21 will receive a free t-shirt. Register at: https://urbandale.activityreg.com/selectactivity_t2.wcs

2.) Donate to the cause:

All proceeds will be donated to Run for the Badge, an organization that creates memorials for officers lost in the line of duty. Anyone interested in helping the Mayor reach his $2,000 goal can donate online.

3.) Pick up your free t-shirt:

We will hand out t-shirts on the following days in the front Urbandale Police Department parking lot to those who pre-register:

  • Tuesday, October 6 — 8:00 AM – 10:00 AM
  • Wednesday, October 7 — 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM
  • Thursday, October 8 — 9:30 AM – 11:30 AM
  • Saturday, October 10 — 8:00 AM – 11:00 AM

4.) Run or walk virtually:

COVID-19 has impacted the way we're doing the run this year. We've marked a route that you can use that starts at the Urbandale Police Department, (from October 5 - October 10 you'll see trail markers to help you follow the route) and you can run on your own, or run anywhere, at any time!
