Fire Marshal Biography

Fire Marshal Jon Rech is responsible for fire code enforcement, fire and life safety prevention/education activities, and fire investigations in the City of Urbandale. He started at UFD in 1995 as a paid-on-call member. In 2000, he was hire full-time at UFD as a Paramedic/Fire Inspector. In 2006 his position was reclassified to Fire Marshal. In addition to numerous Fire and EMS certifications he has an A.S. degree in Emergency Medical Services (EMS) from Mercy College of Health Sciences and a B.A. Degree in Law, Politics and Society from Drake University. He is also a graduate of the Executive Fire Officer Program at the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, MD. Jon is a past board member of the Hawkeye State Fire Safety Association and Past President of the Iowa Fire Marshals Association.
