The Monte Burr Memorial Garden, located at Urbandale Fire Department Station 42, was created to honor the memory of Firefighter/EMT Monte Burr, who served as a Firefighter/EMT from 1994 until his death in 2009. Within the memorial garden are the Mike Mercurio Memorial Statue and 9/11 Memorial Steel.
The Mike Mercurio Memorial Statue is a memorial to Firefighter/EMT Mike Mercurio, who died in the line of duty in 2005.
The 9/11 Memorial Steel was given to the Urbandale, Clive and Windsor Heights Fire Departments by the New York Port Authority to serve as a memorial to the 343 Firefighters who gave their lives on September 11, 2001.
