Engineering & Public Works
The Engineering and Public Works Department is responsible for over 460 lane miles of streets and right-of-way within the City of Urbandale. The department is also responsible for street lighting, traffic signals, collection of solid waste, sanitary sewers, storm sewers, traffic studies and snow and ice removal.
If you suspect that the sanitary sewer is backing up through a basement drain, call the Urbandale Department of Engineering and Public Works at 515-278-3950 and a crew will be dispatched to investigate. If this happens outside of regular working hours, call Westcom at 515-222-3321 and they will contact the City for assistance.
