Bulk Item Drop-off
Do you have a large item that doesn't fit in your garbage bin? Urbandale residents can drop-off large items (like appliances and furniture) for no-charge at the Urbandale Parks & Public Works Maintenance Facility located at 9401 Hickman Road.
Second Saturday of Every Month:
On the second Saturday of every month, from 8 AM until Noon, Urbandale residents can drop off large items that don't fit in their garbage bin.
Bring Identification:
Urbandale residents will need to bring proof of address, like a drivers license or government issued I.D. that has your Urbandale address on it.
Charges, Cost, and Fees:
There are no additional charges, costs, or fees for this service. This service is included with your monthly garbage bill and is available to Urbandale residents who receive City-provided solid waste collection.
Accepted Items:
Examples of accepted appliances include items like an air conditioner (window or central), dehumidifier, dishwasher, dryer, freezer, furnace, garbage disposal, light ballast, microwave, range, refrigerator, trash compactor, washer, and water heater.
Examples of accepted furniture include items like a chair, desk, dresser, file cabinet, computer, couch, grill (no tank), recliner, mattress, shelves, table, toilet, TV, television, monitors, sink, and TV stand.

- Batteries
- Bricks
- Concrete
- Construction debris
- Dirt or sod
- Hazardous materials
- Logs & Limbs
- Oil
- Paint
- Railroad ties
- Toxic materials
- Combustible materials
- Explosive materials
- Vehicle parts
Other Services:
Once a year the City host an annual curbside clean-up event. This may be a good option for you if you're not able to transport and drop-off your items at the Parks & Public Works Maintenance Facility.
