Support Services: 

Sergeant Don Simpson has been a Police Officer since joining the Urbandale Police Department in 1991.  Prior to becoming a Police Officer, Sergeant Simpson received his Bachelors Degree in Human Services from Grand View College. 

Sergeant Simpson has served 12 years with the Patrol Division and 7 years with the Investigation Division.  During his time as a Detective he was assigned to Narcotic Investigations which involved the Westside Vice / Narcotics Task Force and also the Mid Iowa Narcotics Enforcement Task Force. (M.I.N.E.)

In 2008 Sergeant Simpson was promoted to Sergeant and was the Watch Commander for several shifts in the Patrol Division.  While assigned to the Patrol Division he supervised the departments Bike Patrol Unit, Field Training and Mentoring Unit, Internship Program, Interdiction Team, and a Physical Fitness Coordinator.  Sergeant Simpson is a former member of the Tactical Unit and served 6 years as the Shield Operator.      

Sergeant Simpson is currently assigned as Sergeant in the Staff and Support Services Division.   Sergeant Simpson is also a member of the Urbandale City Wellness Committee and Safety Committee.
