Iowa Electricians and Electrical Contractor Licensing
The Iowa General Assembly has enacted legislation (Iowa Code Chapter 103) which establishes a statewide licensing program for electricians and electrical contractors. The program was established in the Fire Marshal Division of the Iowa Department of Public Safety, and will be overseen by a new Electrical Examining Board. The provisions of the law which require state licensing of electricians and electrical contractors took effect on January 1, 2008.
Iowa Plumber and Mechanical Professional Licensing
The 2007 Iowa Legislature passed the "Iowa Plumber and Mechanical Professional Licensing Act" that created an examining board under the Iowa Department of Public Health. The Act was amended during the 2008 Legislative Session and signed by Governor Culver in April of that year. Board members were appointed by Governor Culver April, 2008.
