Solid Waste

The Solid Waste Division helps to maintain a clean and healthy Urbandale environment by collecting and disposing of residential garbage, trash, and yard waste. Household garbage is collected weekly, with special collections for leaves, Christmas trees, and household trash on a periodic basis.

Household recyclables are collected by Waste Management through the metro area's Curb It! recycling program.

Solid waste is normally collected Monday through Thursday in Urbandale.  Residents should place their solid waste at the curb by 6:30 a.m. on the morning of their collection day.  If there is a change in the collection schedule, it will be posted on the calendar.  To view the collection schedule route map click here.

If a holiday falls on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, there is no collection on the holiday.  Holidays without trash or recycling collection are: New Years Day, Memorial Day Monday, July 4th, Labor Day Monday, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Collection normally scheduled for these days will occur on the following weekday, collection will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week.
