School Resource Officer
The School Resource Officer serves as a liaison between the School Systems and the UPD during the nine (9) months school is in session. Additionally, the School Resource Officer serves as a liaison between the juvenile court system and the Department. School Resource Officers are responsible for cooperative police/school programs, such as child safety, D.A.R.E., Safety Town and such additional programs for which the school administration determines a need. The School Resource Officer is assigned where needed, as determined by the Chief of Police.
The School Resource Officer handles cases involving juveniles who are students in or associated with the school systems within the City of Urbandale and who are victims, suspects or offenders.
