Lakeview pond, located along Aurora Avenue, has accumulated a significant amount of silt. The pond has been drained and this summer, the City of Urbandale has planned to clean out the pond. The project is to be completed in the fall.

The Urbandale Parks and Recreation Department consists of a Parks Division and a Recreation and Community Education Division. The Parks Division maintains and manages over 900 acres of parkland, 36 miles of trails, seven shelter houses, 12 tennis counts, six ball diamonds, ten soccer fields, a skateboard park, and skating ponds.
