NATIONAL NIGHT OUT
August 3rd 2010 5pm to 7pm at the Urbandale Police Station
National Night Out
The “27th Annual National Night Out” a unique crime/drug prevention event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch and Target. This night is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for local anti crime programs, and to strengthen community and police partnerships.
On August 3, 2010 5-7pm at the Urbandale Police Station 3740 86th Street will be holding its second-annual National Night Out celebration. This is a free event for the whole family. Here is a list of the free activities and food.
- Bring you bicycle for the Bicycle Rodeo with the Urbandale Police Bike Patrol officers. State Farm agent Ben Buenzow will be giving away free bicycle helmets, bicycle safety, and a Trek bicycle.
- Dunk tank (provided by Urbandale Police Protective and Benevolent Association)
- Climbing Wall (provided by Iowa National Guard)
- Jump House (provided by Urbandale Sports Association)
- Music (provided by Gloria Dei Lutheran Church)
- Strauss Security will be giving away a free home security system and installation
- Urbandale Fire Department will be on hand with fire safety information. A Ladder Truck and Ambulance will be on scene. (pending calls)
- Fire Safety House (provided by Blank Children’s Hospital)
- Methodist Hospital Life Flight
- Urbandale Parks and Rec will have arts and crafts
- Rollie (seatbelt safety) and McGruff and Crash Test Dummies will be here as well (Provided by Iowa Crime Prevention Association and Kaplan University)
- Clowns will be walking around and making balloon animals (provided by local law enforcement agencies)
- Urbandale Police K-9 demonstration
- Urbandale Honor Guard presentation
- Urbandale SWAT members and Rapid Response Vehicle
- Urbandale Citizen's Academy
- Urbandale Reserve Officers will be on hand selling challenge coins.
- Hot dogs, chips, cookies, pop corn, dilly bars, cotton candy, pop, and water will all be free. (provided by Hy-Vee, Target, Dairy Queen, Big Sky Bread, Merle Hay Mall, and Pepsi)
- Numerous free handouts from local organizations
