Community Relations/Crime Prevention
Officer Randy Peterson is the Community Relations Officer for the Police Department. Officer Peterson brings to the Community Relations position experience in community policing concepts and public speaking. Peterson is looking forward to building bridges between the Police Department and the residents of Urbandale.
Officer Peterson has been an Urbandale Police Officer since 2005 and has prior experience as a Reserve Officer with the Altoona Police Department for four years. Officer Peterson's Urbandale experience includes serving 1½ years as the department's Traffic Enforcement Officer. He also has experience as a child safety seat technician, a bike patrol officer and a watch commander. He is a member of the Police Department’s Honor Guard and is President of the Urbandale Police Protective Benevolent Association.
