Community Relations/Crime Prevention
I want to introduce myself, Officer Cari McDaniel, Crime Prevention Officer. I have worked for the Urbandale Police Department for 6 ½ years. My previous assignments have included the Patrol Division, Criminal Investigation Division, and School Resource Officer. I am a department mentor, RAD (self defense) instructor, hostage negotiator, and polygraphist.

Crime prevention has been defined as, “The anticipation, recognition, and appraisal of a crime risk and the initiation of action to remove or reduce it.” Our goal at the Urbandale Police Department is to work in partnership with our community and businesses to make Urbandale a better, safer community in which to work and live.
We are reaching out to Urbandale residents and businesses to hear your needs and concerns in achieving this goal. Whether your need or concern is to hold neighborhood meetings, report suspicious activity, or to discuss programs for your community…those are the concerns I want us to work together to address.
Please contact me – let’s build a safer, stronger community together.
