CITIZENS POLICE ACADEMY

JUNIOR DETECTIVES
Junior Detective - Learn to Solve a Crime! (Ages 8-10)
Cost $10 per child

Participants work with Urbandale Police Detectives and are taught criminal investigative techniques to help solve a mock crime. They will learn the difference between theft, burglary and robbery.  They will view a mock burglary video and process fingerprints and other evidence found at the crime scene.  They will get to work in the police lab and dust for fingerprints and compare prints to find our suspect!  The class is two hours and also includes a tour of the police station.  Maximum of 12 participants per session.

R.A.D. (Rape Aggression Defense for Women)
Rape Aggression Defense - Women’s Self Defense! (Ages 16-80)

The Rape Aggression Defense System is a program of realistic self-defense tactics and techniques for women. The R.A.D. system is a comprehensive, women-only course that begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and risk avoidance, while progressing on to the basics of hands on defense training. R.A.D. is not a martial arts program.

radKIDS
Since it’s inception in 1998, radKIDS has been committed to providing education that enhances the ability of children and parents to utilize knowledge, skills and power to protect themselves from violence and harm.  The 4-week course is taught by nationally certified R.A.D. instructors from the Urbandale Police Department and the surrounding area. Participants are provided with a workbook/reference manual that outlines the entire Physical Defense Program.  The manual is also the key to a lifetime return and practice policy for R.A.D. graduates.
