JUNIOR DETECTIVES

Junior Detective - Learn to Solve a Crime! (Ages 8-10)

Participants will work with Urbandale Police Detectives and be taught criminal investigative techniques to help solve a mock crime. View a burglary and process fingerprints, footprints, and other evidence found at the crime scene. Have fun for three hours with the police officers, working in the police lab to compare prints, match footprints with a shoe taken from the suspect, pick a suspect out of a lineup, and more!

Class also includes touring of the police station and using the lab to investigate and solve the crime. Maximum of 12 participants per session. Snack is included.

R.A.D. (Rape Aggression Defense for Women)

Rape Aggression Defense - Women’s Self Defense! (Ages 16-80)

The Rape Aggression Defense System is a program of realistic self-defense tactics and techniques for women. The R.A.D. system is a comprehensive, women-only course that begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and risk avoidance, while progressing on to the basics of hands-on defense training. R.A.D. is not a martial arts program.

The 4-week courses are taught by nationally certified R.A.D. instructors from the Urbandale Police Department and surrounding area. Participants are provided with a workbook/reference manual that outlines the entire Physical Defense Program for reference and continue personal growth. The manual is also the key to their lifetime return and practice policy for R.A.D. graduates. The cost of the class is $20.00.

Our next class will be held in the fall of 2010. Exact dates have yet to be determined.

The class meets for four evenings from 6:30p-9:30p.

radKIDS

Since it’s inception in 1998, radKIDS has been committed to providing education that enhances the ability of children and parents to utilize knowledge, skills and power to protect themselves from violence and harm.

radKIDS: Making a Difference - radKIDS strengthens family, encourages physical fitness, and teaches cores safety values to live by through its program. radKIDS is a fun, activity-based program that includes lecture, safety drills, muscle memory exercises and dynamic simulation. Each student is provided with reference materials. The cost of the class is $10.00.

The classes are from 6-8pm and run for five consecutive Monday nights.

Fall of 2010 class dates are yet to be determined.
