CALEA
Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies
PURPOSE:
The purpose of CALEA's Accreditation Programs is to improve the delivery of public safety services, primarily by: maintaining a body of standards, developed by public safety practitioners, covering a wide range of up-to-date public safety initiatives; establishing and administering an accreditation process; and recognizing professional excellence.
In July of 2010, the Urbandale Police Department began the CALEA's accreditation process. It is the intent of the Chief of Police and the Urbandale Police Department to achieve accreditation within the three year time frame.
Urbandale Police Sergeant Rob Johansen was selected by Chief McCarty to represent the Urbandale Police Department as its CALEA Manager. Sergeant Johansen has been with the Urbandale Police Department for 17 years and most recently graduated from the FBI NATIONAL ACADEMY in June of 2010.
