Wading Pools

Urbandale has three wading pools for children. Lions Park and South Karen Acres are for children 6 years of age and younger and are free of charge. The Aquatic Playground, next to the pool, is for children 10 years of age and younger.

Children must be accompanied by a responsible person at least 14 years of age.

Swim diapers are required when using these pools.

Lions Park – 72nd St. & Prairie Ave.

South Karen Acres – 7652 Roseland Ave.

Date: June 9 – August 1 (Monday-Friday)

Hours: 12:30–4:00 p.m.

Fee: Free

Lion’s Park wading pool will be closed July 2-July 4

Aquatic Playground – 7201 Aurora Ave.

Date: June 2 – August 8

Hours: Everyday - 1:00–4:00 p.m.

Monday-Friday - 6:00–8:30 p.m.

Fee: Free (2 & under with paid adult), $3 (3 & over)

The Aquatic Playground may remain open through August, on a reduced schedule.

The wading pools will not open if there is a 60% chance or higher expectation of thunderstorms in the forecast or if the temperature is below 70° at 10:00 a.m.
