Welcome to the first edition of the Urbandale Neighborhood Event Tool Kit!

Whether you're planning your first event or breathing new life into an annual one, this kit will provide you with the ideas and tips to help you get started.

The Strengthening Neighborhoods Committee, an Urbandale Action Council initiative, was formed in 2004 to develop, implement and evaluate plans to enhance the "small town" feel of Urbandale through its informal system of neighborhoods.

Our first project is this kit. We heard from many Urbandale citizens who are already planning successful neighborhood events. They provided many of the ideas you will find in this kit.

This kit contains the following:

• Suggested events
• City guidelines for holding neighborhood events
• Tips for developing an invite
• Suggestions for developing a neighborhood directory and a sign-up form

These are just suggestions. Each and every neighborhood is unique - that is the beauty of living in Urbandale. So we encourage you to do what you feel is appropriate and fun for your neighborhood.
