INDOOR KAYAKINGGot a case of cabin fever? Let’s go kayaking on a cold winter day! Learn the basics of recreational kayaking from a Polk County Conservation naturalist. Participants will learn about types of kayaks, equipment, techniques, self-rescues, and have a chance to practice skills on the water. Dress to get wet and bring a towel and a dry change of clothes. All equipment is provided. Register online www.leadingyououtdoors.org. Deadline: February 8. Minimum age 14.
LAW ENFORCEMENT APPRECIATION DAYAll law enforcement and their families swim for FREE. Sunday, January 8, 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Join us in thanking law enforcement for their service. Everyone will receive a police officer rubber ducky upon admission.
FIREFIGHTER/EMS APPRECIATION DAYAll firefighters/EMS and their families swim for FREE. Sunday, May 7, 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Join us in saying thank you to all firefighters/EMS for their service. Everyone will receive a firefighter rubber ducky upon admission.
CARNIVAL TIME DURING SPRING BREAK!We will have a LARGE inflatable slide to enter the water, along with carnival games and prizes.

SPRING BREAK FESTIVITIESThe pool will be open additional times during the day from 1:00-4:00 p.m.
Date: Monday, March 13 – Friday, March 17
Time: In addition to the regular days and times, Public recreational swim will be 1:00-4:00 p.m. throughout the week.
Note: $5 admission on Wednesday, March 15 for carnival.
Cost: Regular admission of $4 for anyone entering the pool area (there is no additional fee for annual pass users)
Egg DiveJoin us for the 7th Annual Egg Dive!
This has become very popular in Urbandale, growing each year, so come early. Children will be divided in age groups to dive for colored eggs in the pool. Each egg will be turned in for a prize!
Date: Saturday, April 15
Time: Diving will begin with the youngest age group at 1:30 p.m. and continue until all age groups have participated
Cost: $5 per person entering the pool area; $1 with an annual pass
THIRD Annual B.Y.O.B. – Saturday, March 4 This event grows every year! Bring your own boat, (made out of cardboard and duct tape only – no markers or paint to be used) with paddles (they do not have to be homemade) to the pool. Great project for clubs, boy and girl scouts, families, etc. The race will be one lap (down and back- 60 yards). Races will go in heats, beginning with the youngest age group. Awards will be given for each age category.
Categories are the following age groups for both individuals and groups (2 or more in the boat):
• 8 years and younger
• 9-11 years
• 12 -15 years
• 16-18 years
• Registration from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 4
• All boats must be registered by 10:30 a.m.
• Races begin with the youngest age group at 11:00 a.m. – End time dependent on number of entries.
