The Ralph Whitten Shelter at Lions Park is one of three enclosed facilities available for rent. The shelter is nestled within one of Urbandale's most iconic and centrally located parks. The Ralph Whitten Shelter is a perfect place to hold a business meeting, a community meeting, and a small family gathering or wedding reception. The space can accommodate up to 100 people and has approximately 10, 8-foot rectangular tables and 75 chairs. A full kitchen is included in the rental to meet all your meal/catering needs. The shelter is also heated and air conditioned. The shelter is located in Lions Park, at 72nd Street and Aurora Avenue.

How Do I Rent? Shelter rentals must be done in person at the Parks and Recreation office at 3600 86th Street. Office hours are 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday.
The full rental fee, plus a $100 refundable deposit is required at the time of reservation. The deposit is refunded 2 weeks after the rental, providing all the rules and regulations are followed. If the reservation is made less than two weeks before the rental date, the full amount must be paid in cash or by credit card.

When can I rent for 2017? Residents of Urbandale may begin reservations October 3, 2016. Non-residents may reserve the facilities beginning January 3, 2017. Contact the Urbandale Parks and Recreation office at 515-278-3963 with any questions.
