Support Services Division

Support Service’s primary functional responsibilities are the School Resource Officer Program, School Crossing Guard Program, Community Relations, Press Information Office, Animal Control, Police Chaplain Program, Police Matrons, Police Department Tours, Crime Eye Neighborhood Watch, Fleet Management, Language Interpreters, Building Maintenance, Holding Facility Management, Uniform and Equipment Administration, Department Inventory, Grant Management and Controlled Deer Bow Hunt.
Support Services Commander

Captain Dave Disney started his law enforcement career in 1984 with the Washington Iowa Police Department and is a 1985 graduate of the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy.  He joined the Urbandale Police Department in March of 1991. Captain Disney has served as a patrolman, narcotics officer, criminal investigator, press information officer and D.A.R.E. Instructor for the Urbandale Community School District.


Captain Disney was promoted to Sergeant in 1999 and has been a supervisor in the Patrol Division, Investigation Division and Staff Services Divisions. He has several years of experience as a S.W.A.T. team member with the Suburban Emergency Response Team (SERT). He was promoted to the position of Support Services Commander in May 2014 and currently holds the rank of Captain.


Captain Disney oversees the operations of the Crime Prevention program, the School Resource Officer, the Police Honor Guard, police vehicle and building maintenance, School Crossing Guards, Police matrons, Police Chaplains and the language interpreters. Captain Disney also serves as the Jail Administrator for the department’s holding facility.

Captain Disney earned his Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice from Grand View College and a Masters Degree in Public Administration from Drake University.  He is a member of the Urbandale Police Benevolent Association, the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the Iowa State Police Association and the Iowa Police Chief’s Association.
