Urbandale Boards, Commissions & Committees

  1. Audit Committee

    The Audit Committee of the City Council consists of 4 members that meet to review the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report.

  2. Board of Adjustment

    The Board of Adjustment members are appointed by the Mayor and approved by City Council.

  3. Board of Appeals

    Architects and engineers are given preference to positions on the Board of Appeals.

  4. Capital Improvements Program Committee

    The CIP Committee consists of 9 members that review and take resident input on the city's Capital Improvement Program.

  5. Civil Rights Commission

    The Civil Rights Commission works with the Iowa Civil Rights Commission on complaints filed in Urbandale.

  6. Civil Service Commission

    The Civil Service Commission's jurisdiction pertains to all full-time city employees.

  7. Complete Streets Advisory Committee

    The Urbandale Public Art Committee was created in 2008 to enhance the appearance of the City of Urbandale through the integration of art in the public environment.

  8. Economic Development Advisory Board

    The Economic Development Advisory Board provides perspectives and insights to help shape the City of Urbandale’s Economic Development Strategies.

  9. Library Board of Trustees

    The Library Board of Trustees consists of 7 members who must be residents of Urbandale.

  10. Parks & Recreation Commission

    The Parks and Recreation Commission develops and updates master plans related to parks and recreation facilities, spaces and activities.

  11. Planning & Zoning Commission

    The Planning and Zoning Commission is responsible for the city's Comprehensive Plan, and reviews / recommendations regarding rezoning, variances, site plans, and preliminary / final plats.

  12. Public Art Committee

    The Urbandale Public Art Committee was created in 2008 to enhance the appearance of the City of Urbandale through the integration of art in the public environment.

    The Tree Board consists of 5 members who must be residents of Urbandale.

  14. Urbandale Sanitary Sewer District

    The Urbandale Sanitary Sewer District consists of 3 members that are elected by special election or at a special meeting of the Board of Trustees.

  15. Urbandale/Windsor Heights Sanitary Sewer District

    The Urbandale/Windsor Heights Sanitary Sewer District provides for the disposal of all sanitary sewage within the district.

  16. Water Utility Board of Trustees

    The Water Utility Board of Trustees has administrative and supervisory authority over the Water Utility, including management of the utility's financial affairs.
