Patrol Division

The Patrol Division’s responsibilities are to provide public safety, maintain order, respond to emergencies, enforce traffic and criminal law, conduct criminal and accident investigations, and promote good community relations through community policing initiatives.
Patrol Commander
Captain Matt Logsdon is the commander of the patrol division. In 1997, he joined the Urbandale Police Department and has served as a patrol officer and detective.

In September of 2002, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. As a Sergeant he has supervised as a Patrol Sergeant, as a General Criminal Investigations Sergeant and as a Narcotics Task Force Sergeant. He has served as an operator, team leader and the S.W.A.T./Suburban Emergency Response Team Commander during his career thus far.

On February 8th, 2013 he was promoted to his current rank of Captain and made the Patrol Division Commander. His new position includes supervision of three patrol shifts that provide service to the Urbandale Community.
